Mayor comes through…the Chute is paved
Well we don't really know if Mayor Pedudo had any influence here, but it certainly is a possibility! The city has paved a number of roads in the past week around Schenley Park, including the chute section of our race course ie, Schenley Drive in front of Phipps - from the 'stop sign' to the bridge. The future of Frew street remains unclear. The fall should be interesting as all the organizations figure out the new road surface!

Yes, the freeroll and initial chute turn area are now being re-surfaced.
Even better news. The "back hills" are scheduled to be re-paved this year too.

A quick search on "frew" shows that they are repaving Schenley from Frew (chute entrance) to Panther hollow (stop sign), as mentioned above.
They are ALSO paving Frew from Schenley (chute entrace) to Tech (top of hill 2), constituting the whole chute to the finish line (the entire backhills). The weird thing is, they have a different paving program listed (Blkstn, Asph) as opposed to main roads only getting asphalt. I hope that doesn't mean they are cheaping out on it. There is also a hilarious "note" in the notes sections which reads "CMU pay half???" LOL good luck with that PGH DPW, they don't like to pay for stuff.

according to the new interactive map (holy crap Peduto/Gilman are great), we'll be getting the chute and backhills repaved sometimes in May-June
