Lead Truck Auction

Post by ms01814 »

I found the 2011 page earlier in the week saying the auction would begin yesterday (Friday). If you search for the page (keyword is auction) it comes back as a hit, but the page doesn't come up and I can find no reference to it in the forum.

What's up? I got photos from the lead truck the last two years, looking to do a third.

I'm glad you brought it up. We will be running the lead truck auction again this year, we're just a bit behind on publicizing it.

We thought that it would start on Friday, but the heat selection meeting this year is not taking place until Monday. Of course, we can't auction off the heats until we know what they are. Our plan right now is that the auction will run from 9am Tuesday morning until 9pm Wednesday evening.

We'll be getting the details out on the auction and everything else as soon as we can.

Auction discussion 2011

Getting a thread ready for any auction discussion that will presumably crop up. Forgive the slightly ... let's say ... utilitarian look of the auction site this year, it didn't get its fair share of the new website love.

It definitely has an old-timey feel to it.

I found out that I'm able to outbid myself. Not a bad thing if you're feeling lonely or extra generous, but not sure if it's a typical online auction feature.

This is a known problem. It's because you are actually allowed to outbid yourself for the finals ( since the top X bidders win in that case, and there is nothing stopping you from bidding enough to claim the top X spots - other than meeting the business end of my fist)...and since it was too much of a pain to implement different logic for the finals and the prelims, we let this one stay in....

I would post that it's because the auction was open for much less time this year. Still though, good stuff all around.

Dang, I don't think I won any, unless someone backs out of something, and I'm second. Didn't really have Internet access this afternoon/evening.
