Homecoming 2009

Post by Carl Nott »

So Bordick mentioned something in the Video thread that kind of got me going into a new tangent...

I suggest that next year we get a request to Sweepstakes so that an Alumni Team can roll Homecoming Weekend. I assume we'd need to get our buggies safetied and our alumni driver(s) caped on Thursday and/or Friday, but that shouldn't be a problem. Then roll on Saturday morning. Might be fun. Would of course need to avoid any exploitation of rules and would need to avoid stealing rolls from student orgs, but maybe we could, I dunno, pay off the orgs/Sweepstakes through a donation or something.

Lots of details to work out, but do folks think this might be workable?

Funny, last night Carsen , Aiton and I got excited about doing an exhibition heat at Carnival. We were watching '98 race tapes, and now I want to push Hill 5 again, because I'm a glutton for punishment. Homecoming might be more manageable, though.

Anyway, we thought about having Abby qualified. Would she just need to get caped, or get 15 rolls? She's not a new driver by any means, but if she's in a buggy she hasn't driven before...what would Sweepstakes say?

Sorry to get off tangent, but what do I have to bribe you (or someone else) with to get a copy of those RD98 tapes? I contacted CMUtv and they didn't have anything.

Thanks,

Tom Wood sent me a copy on DVD. I thought I'd found it but it turned out to be a copy of 'I Dream of Weenie'. Let me look around a bit more and try to find the '98 DVD and I'll send you both.

Yeah, CMUtv didn't record that year. Unbelievably, I found the master VHS tapes sitting dusty on my bookshelf...and Tom Wood was awesome and transfered them.

Quality's not great, but still fun to watch.

Carsen, Aiton - Can you guys burn an extra copy for Wook while you're at it?

I'd love a copy of that as well. Actually, I'd love to see tapes from '96 and '97 even more. I know I was there, but I can't remember any of what happened.
