Interesting note to any CIA alums: the print edition pdf has the 1981 compubookie too.

Did anyone else notice in the PDF how 3/5 of the opinion's asked for concerning buggy were "I don't know" or "I don't care". Think that's indicative of the campus community's opinion or just terrible reporting?

This reflects the number of teams in the race. Buggy is viewed as being so esoteric that there is no room for casual fans or participants. I'd like to think that the BAA, and especially the fantastic reporting that Sam does, help with this by allowing someone with only a passing interest see what's going on and possibly get hooked. That said participation is up. Just looking at the number of buggies running by year & gender:jixson wrote:Think that's indicative of the campus community's opinion or just terrible reporting?

The point I'm trying to get to here is that unless you do buggy yourself or have a friend on a team, you are not going to care that much. And you sure as hell aren't coming out to watch rolls in the morning! The fact that most respondents said they wanted to come to the race is pretty awesome. Would I prefer if everyone on campus were psyched to come cheer their favorite team, or even better participate? Sure. But I think we are finally heading in the right direction.

Re: compubookie is up!
I completely agree, but where's the value, for an opinion section, of asking people that don't have an opinion? If I was running a newspaper, I wouldn't ask people who don't play or watch baseball who's gonna win the world series. With the rise of participation in buggy, it should be easy to find people with actual opinions.DangerMike wrote: The point I'm trying to get to here is that unless you do buggy yourself or have a friend on a team, you are not going to care that much. more like CutnpasteBookie
Some new developments he may have missed ...
SigEp's freeroll times dropped significantly this weekend, they can come in under 2:10 and might even embarrass Pika and possibly challenge Fringe (if the driver can adjust to the speed). Nice to have more than one frat in the chase even if only to have a convenient gaybashing target for all the haters.

A chilly/damp course will be suppressing the times, record breaking will be a feat. SDC's driver's are definitely carrying the team's water and a wet course should trouble all the standard trikes and SigNu.
