Hey Buggy fans!

It may not feel like it, but our 100th anniversary is closer than you might think! Aside from our continuing great coverage, I feel like we should do something like a big group photo to commemorate the occasion of everyone connected to buggy (Students teams, Staff, Alumni, Supporting groups, fans, parents, ect.) and Hill 1 seems like the place to do it.

I'd love to hear thoughts on this and what other ideas are out there for things we can do to make the 100th as amazing as it deserves to be.

Invite the lads from Grand Tour to incorporate the 100th Anniversary Sweepstakes race into an episode of their show on Amazon:

.... include Hammond being stuffed into a real race-prepped buggy and sent hurtling into free roll to see if he can a) make it through the chute in one piece and b) to see if he can make it burst into flames. Grand Tour cameras are mounted both outside on the buggy -- to give viewers a driver's eye view of hurtling along 2" above the pavement in Schenley Park -- plus a camera inside to show the look of terror on Hammond's face as he tries to negotiate the Corner.

.... also, Jeremy, Capt. Slow, and Hammond are given a the Construction rules, roll of carbon fiber cloth, rigid foam, some epoxy resin, assorted tubing, spindles, plexiglass, a rubber chicken, and small hand tools, and are told they have 24 hours in which to build a buggy. Tom Wood is their Honorary Technical Consultant, but the lads are only allowed to ask him three questions. Tom's answers are so technical none of the lads understand anything he's telling them.

.... Hammond drives the buggy built by him and his co-stars, and Jeremy is forced to do a full Race Day Hill #1 pushing against a Women's D Team; several minutes of video of Jeremy projectile vomiting at the top of Flagstaff hill is incorporated into the show.

.... Later, Jeremy steals the starter's pistol and tries to assassinate Hammond with it. And somewhere in the middle of the show, they tell the History of Buggy, with real buggy footage and photos, and the Connection of the School to Scotland and Andrew Carnegie, etc.

... Finally, Grand Tour is allowed to run an exhibition Heat with their own buggy (or a loaner, if their buggy fails the Safety Inspection,) using Hammond as the driver, Jeremy and Captain Slow as pushers on the front hills, and Grand Tour crew members making up the remainder of the push team on the back hills.

Hilarity ensues.

That sounds like it would be amazing, do we have any contacts with them?

I don't; just thought it would fit in with the show's style.

ESPN came to the Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade in NYC - and made a $10,000 donation! I think that if they can cover that event, Buggy would certainly be an event they'd be interested in. Any contacts?

This suggestion is valid for any year of races. Those one page sheets with all the buggies and races they are in are a great tool that could love beyond raceday. They should be posted in the history section. That way, there is a very concise record as to what was running each year with quasi accurate livery. Very helpful when looking at the next year's roll pictures and wondering, what buggy is that?

That's a GREAT idea! I'll see about getting that as part of the raceday essentials for this year.
